Facebook

Facebook
Facebook is the number one social networking site on the internet. It is the most popular social networking site in use by college students. This site allows students to interact with each other, upload pictures and videos, and post comments and blogs. The site has a status update that lets users notify others on Facebook what they are doing or feeling. Status updates are similar to "tweets" on Twitter. Since Facebook is so popular with college students, I thought it would be a great resource for teachers to use in their courses. Teachers could create a Group for their course and allow students to add themselves to the group.

How can Facebook be used for Online Courses

Discussion Board - Use for distributing information
or for posting discussion questions for your students
Message All Members - To communicate with all of
your students
Events - To keep students updated on due dates for
assignments and exams
Wall - All students to post questions and comments
to the whole group. This can be used for networking
with other students in the class.
Member List - Shows a picture of each student, so it
helps you learn your students.
Chat - There is a built in chat for virtual office hours
